Australians will be invited to express their views on body image in an online survey.

The survey will help the federal government develop its body image strategy, being overseen by an advisory group including celebrity Sarah Murdoch.

Youth Minister Kate Ellis will launch the body image survey on Wednesday to coincide with International No Diet Day.

"I want to hear the views of industry, health professionals and the community about what could and should be done to tackle negative body image," she said.

The survey can be accessed from Wednesday at www.youth.gov.au.
